Welcome aboard the only floating bed and breakfast in the San Juan Islands

Join us in celebrating our 18th anniversary as the Wharfside Bed and Breakfast. This elegantly restored, traditional sailing vessel has received national recognition. 

Run away to sea while snug in the harbor.

A summer island adventure or romantic winter retreat is yours aboard the Slowseason, the West Coast's original floating bed and breakfast. This 60-foot, ketch-rigged motorsailer is fully seaworthy and remains at the dock for your overnight stay with us. Aboard are two spacious, private staterooms, plus a sky-lit main salon furnished with antiques, art, and artifacts.

The nautical ambiance appeals to old salts and landlubbers alike. Open year round, the ship is just a short walk to Friday Harbor's restaurants, shops, and ferry landing. Each morning, breakfast is served either on deck or in the salon.

Use the Slowseason as your personal home port while exploring the San Juans' many attractions: whale watching from an excursion boat or along the shore, two national historic park sites, the Whale Museum, galleries, abundant wildlife, beach combing, kayaking, bicycling, fishing, sailing, scuba diving, tennis, and golf. Or you may prefer to simply relax on deck and enjoy live-aboard life.

Wharfside Rates

Forward Stateroom    The marine queen bed, with down comforter,
has added length for our taller guests.
Adjacent to salon and main head.
A bunk bed is availble for a third person for $25 extra.

$175 October 1 to April 30 (no cruise)
$295 May 1 to September 30 (with cruise)
or $175 with no cruise

Bow Cabin   This cabin is only available for those who rent the forward state room for an extra $75 from May 1st to September 30th. It is a small cabin for two kids between eight and eighteen. We provide sleeping bags, or a $25 discount if you provide your own bags.
Entrance is from a hatch on the main deck.

Aft Stateroom   Graceful Victorian curves and gleaming hardwoods conjure visions of Captain Nemo in this romantic, low-beamed captain's cabin. Queen bed, settee, stern windows, private head and sink, and a separate entrance from the main deck. The tiled shower/tub in the main head is shared.

A sumptuous array of breakfast specialties are freshly prepared each morning. We are happy to accommodate special diets, with advance notice.

Rent the Entire Vessel: For complete privacy, one or two people may rent the entire vessel for $350 to $500 per day, depending on the season.

Reservation Information

A credit card guarantee confirms your reservation. Your deposit will be refunded if you notify us 72 hours prior to your booking date. Bookings canceled with less than 72 hours notice will be refunded only if we are able to re-book the room. There is a 10% re-booking fee on all canceled reservations. No refund for shortened stay.

Check-In: 3 P.M. Please advise us if you anticipate a different arrival time.
Check-Out: 11 A.M. Guests who are bicycling or otherwise 'car-less' are welcome to leave their belongings on board until departure time.

The vessel is moored at the end of "K" Dock, off the main dock at the Port of Friday Harbor.

Parking is available at the head of the dock. Or, park at the Anacortes ferry terminal and walk on. Wharfside is just a short walk from the ferry, and an even shorter walk from Kenmore Air's floatplane terminal one dock over from us.

Charter Cruises

We offer you a morning breakfast cruise to seal rock from May 1 to September 30.

We cast off at 9 A.M. and spend approximately two hours on the water. Sit on deck and eat breakfast as we cruise around the islands.

On clear days, you will enjoy an incredible view of Mount Baker, and the crew will point out any marine mammals or birds they spot along the way.
